About Us

Tango Pastry was originally founded in Alexandria, Virginia in January 2011 as a traditional, Argentine-style bakery, which became known for its facturas and empanadas. Tango Pastry has always been a space for sharing the Argentinean culture and cuisine, both with Argentineans longing for the flavors of home, as well as those looking to try new flavors and foods. In 2022, the previous owner sought to retire and chose Katriel Menéndez, our beloved Argentine chef, to continue the legacy of Tango Pastry. 

Embracing the traditional food and customs of Cordoba and Mendoza where he was raised, Katriel worked to ensure that the recipes and products reflected the true flavors of Argentine cuisine. Having been in the culinary industry since he was 14 years old and working as a Chef all over the world, Katriel was thrilled to launch “Tango Pastry by Argentine Chef” and share his expertise and authentic cuisine with the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region. In 2023, Tango Pastry Café opened in Vienna, Virginia with the same goal: sharing the delicious flavors and exciting culture of Argentina.
